2011 is Pretty in Pink

World-renown color authority organization, Pantone, has picked the vibrant Honeysuckle as the Color for 2011, and I couldn't have agreed more with them.  If you don't know what Pantone is go check out their site.  In a nutshell Pantone is the leading company who assists design professionals in color matching using their innovative system that has been more than helpful in the design community for over 40 years.  Needless to say they know their colors better than Crayola...just saying.

I've only followed Pantone's annual tradition for just a few years, and I think it's a neat idea.  Color plays a vital role in expressing our emotions, and it's nice to see a company take on this role of picking a color to better inspire us, and bring change for the new year.  Here's a few snippets from the official press release found here:

"Courageous.  Confident. Vital.  A brave new color, for a brave new world."

"...Honeysuckle emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor"

"It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage, and spirit to  meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life."

I know I've said it already, but I seriously couldn't agree more with the above statements.  It really is an empowering color to us all...just b/c it's pink does not mean men can't embrace it as well.  Besides real men wear pink anyways w/ no care in the world.

Here's a few sketches featuring Honeysuckle:

Pantone suggested pairing Honeysuckle with your basics i.e. black, navy, neutrals, but suggested greens and browns.  I'm anxious to see more of this color used throughout the year, and I will definitely be incorporating more of this into my wardrobe for sure!
Will you be adding more Honeysuckle to your color wardrobe palette?  What are some of your favorite color trends for the new year?

Have a fab week, and Happy Shopping!
